Now here’s a really rare chance to witness superstar art curator Hans Ulrich Obrist in person – the artistic director of London’s Serpertine Galleries is in town to discuss the future of exhibition-making. His much-anticipated talk is surely the highlight of the line-up that S.E.A Focus is offering this year – if you’re not familiar with the latter, it’s a new boutique fair focusing on South-East Asian contemporary art that made its debut last year. Popular street art and culture festival Aliwal Urban Art Festival is back with a smorgasbord of activities for its seventh edition – learn how to make over your existing clothes/tote bags from the Japanese-inspired upcycling outfit Fincrafted Goods, dancers translating scents into sense through their bodies, live graffitti sessions, as well as performances by bad ass comedienne Preetipls. Chinese contemporary art juggernaut Cao Fei will be presenting a brand new work at the Ng Teng Fong Roof Garden atop the National Gallery Singapore – a kinetic installation titled 浮槎 Fú Chá, that alludes to the Chinese fable of a raft traversing the Milky Way, as well as a nod to Singapore’s identity as a port city.
