Photographer and music industry veteran Phillip Leeds, who cut his teeth at places like Def Jam, Star Trak and Rush, has just released a photography book that the fashion crowd is sure to go gaga over. The folks at creative agency Division has just launched ‘BIG SHOTS!’, a compilation of more than 250 previously unpublished Polariods detailing the world of hip-hop, fashion, and all the people in between from the late 1990s till now.
Initially just snapping informal photos of his friends and visitors on a vintage Polaroid camera, Leeds, through his extensive network in the worlds of hip-hop, fashion and music, slowly grew his massive polaroid collection to include big names like Gwen Stefani, Jay Z and Rita Ora.
A long-time friend and collaborator of musician Pharrell Williams, Leeds was most recently the global brand manager for the latter’s clothing line, Billionaire Boys Club. Williams pens in the book’s foreword: “I met Phillip way back, in ’95 or ’96, and he was always the guy who would say, ‘Let’s take a picture’.”
BIG SHOTS! by Phillip Leeds is now exclusively available at Gallery & Co. at $34.90, or online at Amazon.com.
