Halloween Parties & Events In Singapore You Can't Miss

Halloween’s come a long way from the childhood days of trick or treating down your street, to include a full fledged lineup of activities for just about everyone – even your furry four legged friend. I’ve polled everyone from the creatives to the creatures of the night for a round up of the top spots for Halloweekend this year:

#1: For fabulous costumes with a laid back tribe: Overeasy
While the crew is royally bummed about the end of those epic Halloween extravaganzas at The White Rabbit, there’s a good deal of excitement brewing over Lo & Behold’s newest haunt for Halloween activities – OverEasy at Orchard Road. This year’s theme of Battle Royale leaves a lot of room for costume ideas – everyone from the PAC MAN to the Power Rangers to General George S. Patton’s invited. Patrons of the annual Lo & Behold super spooker are widely known to take the dress code dead seriously, and I would highly recommend making an effort at this year’s theme of Battle Royale.   #2: For bigger and better than ever: Zouk
The turnout for Zouk’s annual Halloween party is unmatched, and this year’s promises to be bigger and better and scarier than ever as our favourite Jiak Kim Street location gets transformed into The Scream Diner. Even the trailer is hard to stomach for the squeamish. People are pretty competitive about winning best dressed – Zouk’s top prizes always include overseas trips to fantastic locations and fabulous parties around Asia. This year, they have even gotten serious about social media, and have an additional prize for the best photo tagged #ZoukHalloween. If all that isn’t reason enough, let’s not forget it’s the last Halloween party to be held at the hallowed halls of the Jiak Kim Street institution before it moves to its new home at Clarke Quay. #3: For those who have to celebrate with the wee ones in tow
Halloween doesn’t have to be all about sexy vampires and gruesome zombies, and there’s a number of fright-night family-friendly activities to choose from. My pick? Cocktails for the parents at Cut, followed by Wicked the Musical at the MasterCard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands. The show is one of Broadway’s most celebrated and spectacular musicals where kids will get to discover a fantasy world of wizards, witches, and magic, and get to know the story of two most unlikely friends – Glinda the Good Witch and the Green-skinned outcast (but real star of the show), Elphaba. Make a night of it and have the kids (and adults) go in costume. If you get to ditch the kids and want to do a really good meal instead, Adrift at the Marina Bay Sands launches its inaugural Halloween event, The Masqued Ball, with a four-course omakase dinner, specially customised cocktails, and dancing all night. #4: For major FREAK factor: Halloween Horror Nights at USS
If partying is not your scene, there’s always the most major freak show on the Halloweekend calendar: Halloween Horror Nights at USS. There’s not one, not two, but five haunted houses to pick from – Old Changi Hospital, Hawker Centre Massacre, Salem Witch House, Hu Li’s Inn and Bodies of Work – which means even the bravest souls are likely to be shattered at some point. Tickets start from $65 on weekdays and $69 on weekends.   Ashley enjoys cooking, eating and entertaining at home.
