Rewild Our Planet
If you’ve read our April recommendations for Netflix, you’ll know that Our Planet, a documentary focused on climate change and its effect on wildlife,is a real highlight for the streaming giant – it’s their largest and most ambitious documentary to date, taking over four years to film and stars everyone’s favourite narrator David Attenborough.   The ArtScience Museum has put on a new exhibition, Rewild Our Planet, that ties-in with the documentary – reportedly Singapore’s first social AR (Augmented Reality) exhibition, it recreates scenes from the documentary using AR technology. It’s really a one-of-a-kind exhibition, so head down and check it out. P.S. it’s free admission as well. More details here. Brought in by nightlife and restaurant brand Tao Group (which also launched Lavo back in 2018), Marquee will finally be making its highly anticipated debut here in Singapore on the 12th of April. To kick off its grand opening, Dutch DJ Tiesto will be helming the decks of the newly opened nightclub nestled at Marina Bay Sands. And that’s not all — Saturday sees rapper A$AP Rocky performing. Turner Prize-winning artist (the UK’s most high-profile art award) Martin Creed’s works are currently part of the ongoing Minimalism exhibition at the National Gallery Singapore — which FYI, ends next week, if you have yet to check it out. if you’ve visited, Creed’s work is the solitary lamp turning on and off intermittently. He’ll be at the museum this Friday evening for a one-night-only exclusive performance. More details here. Singapore may be one of the richest countries in the world but clearly there are still many, many issues to be addressed, such as the recent “anti-fake news” bill and the plight of migrants workers based here. Not Here, a new documentary premiering this weekend, turns the spotlight on the grave issue of human trafficking and how Singapore figures in the scheme of things. More details here. Jazz-fusion genius Thundercat has collaborated with everyone from Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, Erykah Badu to Pharrell and as part of his Drunk world tour, he’ll be stopping by Singapore tonight for a one-night-only show at The Pavilion. It’s his first show in Singapore since his gig at Laneway three years ago, so if you’re a fan, get those tickets fast. More details here.
