Milan Design Week 2019: The Kitschy, Elegant And Whimsical Furniture We're Eyeing

Milan Design Week has just wrapped up and in the months to come, you’ll be able to get your hands on the new models debuted at the fair. Though most, like the Miu Miu x M/M Paris stool, are available only by special order.

Here, we’ll be spotlighting the designs from the fashion brands’ exhibitions that will be available for sale in the months to come:

Hermes

For Hermes’ 2019 collection, traditional materials featured heavily, including bamboo, mahogany and wicker. According to their press release, “there is as much nobility in basketry as in porcelain, as much in a strand of wicker as in cashmere cloth.” Incidentally, basketry is also a focus over at Loewe — it would appear that humble materials such as bamboo are a key interior design trend this year.

Versace

The Italian maison is going big on pop culture references this year, with a Jungle-themed sub-collection that takes its name from, yes, that Versace S/S’00 collection made famous by one Jennifer Lopez and her slashed-to-the-navel dress, that led to the creation of Google Images. The Jungle collection also represents Versace Home’s first outdoor collection. We’re gunning for the Pop Medusa collection — a series of pastel-hued chairs and cubes made of laminated glass that will be right at home with this year’s Met Gala theme of camp culture.
