Music Aficionados, You Need To Check Out WHABBY! Music Carnival 2019 Featuring An All-Singaporean Lineup

It’s time to #supportlocal.

Keep the date of 22 June free, for an exciting new music carnival happening in the heart of Orchard Road. The WHABBY! Music Carnival 2019 will be a full-day, family-friendly affair, boasting tunes from a slew of promising and talented Singaporean artists. The best part? It is completely free.

Powered by CITY65 Music, WHABBY! Music is a global online music community created and based in Singapore that aims to promote local music to an international audience (think of this as a nice role reversal). Hosting this music carnival is part of the team’s efforts to spotlight Singaporean musicians and provide them with a wider platform to showcase their talents. Whether you are interested in rap, rock, electronic, or even samba music, there will be something for you to groove to. Highlights in the lineup include Shye, who has been compared to the likes of Billie Elish and Clairo with her style of dream/electro-pop produced entirely in the solitude of her own bedroom. Says the 16-year-old about her music: “I guess you could say my music is experimental because it is literally made
through trial and error. I think it also depicts how I am as a person.“ As to what fans can
expect from her at the carnival, Shye says that her set will be “light-hearted but with a
serious note to loving oneself.”

Enjoying free music while supporting local artists? Sounds like a win-win for all.

WHABBY! Music Carnival 2019 will be held at *SCAPE Playspace on 22 June 2019, from noon to late night. Admission is free. To receive tickets to the event, register here. WHABBY! Ever After Party will be held at *SCAPE Ground Theatre on 22 June 2019, from 8pm to midnight. Admission is $18 (inclusive of a drink). Tickets can be purchased here. For ages 18+ only.

Shye
Whether you are interested in rap, rock, electronic, or even samba music, there will be something for you to groove to. Highlights in the lineup include Shye, a 16-year-old who has been compared to the likes of Billie Elish and Clairo with her style of dream/electro-pop produced entirely in the solitude of her own bedroom.   Knightingale
For something more hardcore to whip your hair to, look no further than Knightingale, whose powerful garage rock sounds will surely get your heart pumping. Axel Brizzy
Keep an eye out for local rapper Axel Brizzy – the 22-year-old is the youngest rapper in Singapore to top the local iTunes charts, and has also worked with international fashion brands such as Superdry and Ermenegildo Zegna.   MOTUS
If you are not aware, a Bateria is an ensemble that performs a music genre called Batucada, an African-influenced Brazilian percussive style that is closely related to samba. Get exposed to it at WHABBY! where MOTUS, a band comprising Bateria players, vocalists and instrumentalists produce upbeat harmonies.   ScRach MarcS
Besides music, there will be several other activities and performances to keep you entertained. If you are a fan of dance, pencil in the performance by dance duo ScRach MarcS. Not only do they blend street dance with contemporary arts, the duo is also one of the only robotic/mannequin performing acts in Singapore. Host and funnyman Hirzi will keep you laughing with his brand of wry and observational humour. The 6ixs Rösti
Of course, a carnival is not complete without some delicious grub. The 6ixs Rösti, who specialises in the traditional Swiss dish of rösti – but with a Southeast Asian twist – will serve up some filling dishes and non-alcoholic beverages. There will also be Red Bull to keep you energised all day, as well as alcohol from Jim Beam, Auchentoshan and Suntory. Eatmepoptart
To end off the night with a bang, there’s the WHABBY! Ever After Party featuring DJ collective Eatmepoptart (weelikeme, KiDG &, Hedger). A fun-filled dance party to close the event where the audience chooses what to jam to from a selection of favourite tunes, ranging from alternative rock to electro to indie pop, all night long.
