The new pop-up collaboration between ‘secret’ bar The Library and La Maison du Whisky is a meeting of two great kindred spirits – resulting in a few great new cocktails.

La Maison du Whisky – established in Singapore since 2005 – is one of the best liquor stores here, known for its selection and expertise. The Library, a bespoke bar in a speakeasy style (including password entry) is known for its lavish and wild cocktail presentations. So you can expect the La Maison du Whisky x The Library collaboration to throw up a few surprises.

For one thing, the whisky store has taken over the entrance of The Library with a temporary pop-up (till end of 2015) – created by French artist Alban Simon. It’s like a mini La Maison, a ‘cabinet de curiosities’ to be stocked with agave in July (tequila and mezcal), Compass Box and other blends in August, Monkey 47 and gins in September, and premium rums in October. All these treats before you even enter The Library…

Here’s a rare shot of the Library interior (photography is not allowed inside the bar), and one of its new cocktails created as part of the collaboration. The Monster Mash: Compass Box Peat Monster whisky, roast pineapple cordial, Benedictine Campari and…Mad scientist. The receptacles reflect the Tiki look of the bar.

This here is the Dram’a Queen: Glendronach 15yr, Library handmade coffee liqueur, Aphrodite bitters…Centre stage. The latter refers to the presentation, in this case on a pedestal with dry ice.

The Library also makes classic cocktails and their own adventurous concoctions. (Here’s a local bar that ferments and barrel-ages their cocktails).
