From beach parties at the hippest clubs to artsy shindigs at buzzy new stores, we round up the parties to see and be seen at this month.
The good folks at Lo & Behold Group (read more about its co-founder Wee Teng Wen here) are launching their first pool party series this month in partnership with Mexican beer brand Corona. The theme: Las Vegas, which means there’ll be plenty of showgirls, a temporary tattoo station and even a photo booth kitted out to look like a wedding chapel.
Music-wise, top local and international acts like UK-based soulful house master Stephen Day and Bali deep house maestro Adrian Giordano will make sure the party spirit goes on all night. There’ll also be fun drinking games like beer pong and Drinko (a larger-than-life board game of chance) for revellers to participate in too. 11 June, 2pm-11pm, Tanjong Beach Club, $35 per pax (buy tickets here)
DJ management agency Eyes To The Front and hip-hop nightlife brand Please Don’t Tell have teamed up to organise one smashing pool party in the heart of the city: Hi-So, Sofitel So Singapore’s rooftop pool space. On the agenda: Beats by British DJ Oliver Osborne; drinks specials priced from $12 for beer and wine; and lots of bikini-clad grooving. 11 June, 2pm-11pm, Sofitel So Singapore, $10 cover charge
The family- and pet-friendly bar by Siloso Beach is turning up the heat for its second edition of Beach Backyard this month. There’ll be great mixes by resident DJ Jason Teo and guest DJs from clubs like Refuge and Ce La Vi, fresh-off-the-barbecue grills and fun activities for adults and children alike. 12 June, 12pm-8pm, Sand Bar, free admission
You know Gallery & Co. as the achingly cool museum store that’s hardly run-of-the-mill. The launch of its Block Party series in April, alongside other events like its boozy brunch parties, cements its status as a hip hangout spot (who would’ve thought?).
For June, the store has invited local collective Darker Than Wax to hit the decks with a heady mix of funk, soul, jazz-infused deep house and live saxophone solos. They’ve also teamed up with French champagne producer Perrier-Jouet to hold champagne tastings and a pairing masterclass. 17 June, 9pm till late, Gallery & Co. outdoor bar, free admission
The one thing this “beach” party may not have is a seaside location, but they’re making up for it by having one heck of a party at its stunning rooftop locale. Fire-twirlers, fire-eaters and body-painting activities are on the cards, and guests are encouraged to dress down – aka the coolest summer-ready gear – and gear up to dance from sunset to sunrise. 17 June, 6pm onwards, 1-Altitude, $35 cover charge (inclusive of one drink). To reserve a table, call 6438-0410 or email mel@1-altitude.com
