Japanese hair salon Kizuki + LIM, a firm favourite with the local fashion and creative crowd, is celebrating its 10th anniversary in Singapore at independent art gallery Kult this weekend and all are welcomed. They’ve put together a killer line-up of local music acts such as Charlie Lim, Linying, Weish and more so even if you’re not a regular at their salons, be sure to head down to Kult this Saturday for a fun, laid-back affair. The first edition of the Singapore Mental Health Film Festival kicks off this Thursday with a slate of 11 films ranging from well-received Hollywood fare (Still Alice) to critically acclaimed documentaries, as well as a solid line-up of workshops and talks touching on diverse topics such as early-age dementia and bipolar disorder. In a time where mental health problems are on the rise and still largely a stigmatised issue, this festival is very much a welcomed entrant and represents an approachable manner in which to start discussions going. Acclaimed local filmmaker Tan Pin Pin will be debuting her latest work, In Time To Come, at STPI this Thursday — the film follows the exhumation of a time capsule that was first buried 25 years ago. So yes, head down for the real goods (pseudo “vintage” filters not needed, thanks). You can expect things like Yellow Pages (remember those?) and other vestiges from the early ’90s.
