For the uninitiated, Soma Folk comprises of natural dye artisan Gwen Ma and woodworker Kelvin Ang. From time to time, they host pop-up experiences that invite people to check out their wares – think tote bags, aprons, dresses and assorted accessories fashioned out of fabrics such as hemp and linen, and all dyed by Ma herself. At their pop-ups, you can also expect hand-crafted furniture made by Ang and small ceramic pieces for sale, alongside homemade delicacies such as tea and cake. Their latest pop-up is once again held at their “cave” – Ang’s expansive studio located at Bukit Timah Junkyard (read: Turf Club). It’s a remote location to be sure, but the one-of-a-kind experience when you reach will make the trek totally worth it. Details here.
