Rapper M.I.A is not known for subtlety, nor does she avoid controversy. The documentary on her life is ‘blacklisted’ and unreleased – the trailer has been removed from YouTube several times. She supports separatist group Tamil Tigers and during a 2012 Superbowl performance she flashed the world her middle finger.

But her albums are acclaimed and her songs (Paper Planes from Slumdog Millionaire) are powerful and catchy. And she also picked a fight with Bieber so she’s cool in our books.

Her latest video for The New International Sound Pt. II, a collaboration with GENER8ION – a project by French producer Surkin – was filmed at Shaolin Tagao, China’s biggest Shaolin school for kids. (‘Tagao’ means fight in Cantonese, right?)

It’s directed by Inigo Westmeier and stays clear of controv by being simply epic, synchronised and visually spectacular. Enjoy.
