Why: While the Chanel showcase is by-invite-only, everything else about this highly anticipated reopening still makes it the place to see and be seen. Starchitect Thierry Despont – famed for making over classics including the Statue of Liberty – updated the iconic 18th century French decor, adding windows and expanding walkways and ceiling heights for a lighter, fresher feel. The once-private garden has now been transformed into a 21,500 sq ft, Versailles-style park populated with linden trees, hanging ivy and beds of white roses. Joining the collection of themed suites named after and inspired by cultural luminaries are those that pay homage to Proust, Maria Callas and even Mozart. And for beauty fiends, the hotel is now home to hair-guru-to-French-It-girls David Mallett’s latest salon, and the world’s first Chanel spa that offers facials and body treatments with exclusive massage oils named after the brand’s signature perfumes.
Where: 15 Place Vendome, 75001 Paris, France
