The Female Collective's Most Memorable Party Moments At Zouk

You might already be planning your outfit for Zouk’s Silver Jubilee, which takes place tomorrow, May 28 at its Jiak Kim Street location. It’s the last time such a bash will be held at its iconic digs, where it’s been throwing one crazy party after another for the past 25 years. And they’re pulling out all the stops for their last dance.

The entire club interior will be decked in silver-themed decorations and will showcase floor-to-ceiling custom hand-drawn motifs. They’ll be bringing back good old favourites like Patron XO shots with chocolate cups and sour plum shots with long island tea, while local DJs like Lincey, Hong, Jeremy Boon, Aldrin & Maniam and hip-hop artist Shigga Shay helm the decks. Plus, anyone who dresses up in anything or all silver – and does it with aplomb – stands a chance to win Best Dressed prizes worth up to $2,500 when uploading your OOTD on Instagram and hashtagging #ZoukSG25th and #ZoukatJiakKim.

To commemorate the occasion, we turned to three of our Female Collective girls – DJ Amanda Keisha Ang, designer Linda Hao and creative consultant Charmaine Seah-Ong – and asked them to reveal their favourite memories of partying at Zouk.

“As far as I can remember (even before the time I was of legal age to enter a club), Zouk has always been the one music institution that brings in the best House and Techno acts (which had been my main diet then), had the most well-designed flyers and the best parties. I met and made so many friends that shared the same love of music and art there.” Amanda Keisha Ang (@akasounds)
“As an illustrator, I had the grand opportunity to create visuals for ZoukOut’s 10th Anniversary and their 20th Anniversary book. And when I had the chance to DJ at this remarkable venue, I was so stoked. Those were all big moments for me! Zouk is like home and everyone is like family.” Linda Hao (@lindahaoliyuan)
“Here are photos taken at Zouk’s 18th birthday. It was the ReadySet Glo era (of indie disco/electronica parties) and we had a huge fashion show where I met many awesome people I still call friends today.” Linda Hao (@lindahaoliyuan)
“What was most memorable about that night was how it ended. Everyone was dead drunk and missing, and it was the first time bouncers had to bring us out. What an epic moment (we were so #youngandfree).” Charmaine Seah-Ong (@eleventhour)
“The ReadySet Glo Electro dance party series at Velvet Underground hold some of the best memories for me. The crazier we dressed, the better – and we could “abuse” neon paint/stickers/accessories while dancing all night to the best of Electro.” Charmaine Seah-Ong (@eleventhour)
“Nobody cared too much about looking cool. We were all just there to party!” Admission to Zouk’s Silver Jubilee (10pm till late) costs $28 for women and $33 for men (including entry to all outlets and two standard housepours).
