Reasons to stop being glued to your smart device: There are too many phishing and spying scandals, it kills human interaction, and the blue light that it emits has been shown to increase pigment production and lead to problems like premature ageing (among others). While the Zuckerbergs of the world try figure out the privacy issue, beauty houses have already come up with products that target the harmful effects of blue rays on skin. Supergoop!’s Unseen Sunscreen ($48) does so with fortifying red algae that also reportedly protects against UVA and UVB. Ditto Fancl’s Sunguard 50+ Protect UV ($50) that’s packed with skin-protecting mallow flower extract. Meanwhile, Three’s Balancing UV Protector ($66) acts as a physical barrier against all light, and is formulated with patchouli oil that is said to minimise melanin production. All are also boosted with anti-inflammatory and whitening properties, and are lightweight enough to double as a primer. Good luck, Mark.
