Blackpink needs no introduction. They were the first K-pop band to perform at music festival giant Coachella just last year and each member are muses of huge fashion houses such as Chanel, Celine and Saint Laurent.

The South Korean quartet finally made a comeback after a year and a half hiatus with their rousing new single How You Like That, which reportedly set a new record for the biggest music video premiere on YouTube on June 26 with about 1.65 million fans tuning in for the reveal – smashing a record set by the BTS boys in April.

Blackpink smashed the record for the biggest music video premiere on YouTube for How You Like That.

While the sets and outfit choices which included a wardrobe by the likes of Chanel and Alexander McQueen were spectacular, the makeup looks were definitely one to note. Here, our favourite looks and how to cop them.

Face jewellery was everywhere

The members sported embellishments that decorated their cheeks, eyes and lips. One that caught our eye? Jennie sported an undereye gemstone that mimicked a teardrop and another fancier and more elaborate diamond-style jewellery piece positioned under her right eye. For something more subtle,  do also check out Jennie’s and Jisoo’s mini-sized facial embellishments placed delicately on their philtrum and eyebrows.

The thicker (and longer), the better

We’re talking about the girls’ eyeliners. While some had a perfect winged eyeliner drawn, Rose’s look was a lot more dramatic and sultry, what with her liner drawn to fill her entire lids and dragged out to form a sharp flick. ProTip: use a black liquid or gel liner for a more precise wing. To clean the edges of the eyeliner, use a cotton swab.

Go soft and smokey with your eyeshadow

Consider this a more subtle, less dramatic and very wearable take on the usual smokey makeup look. Seen on Jisoo and Rose, the look offers a dreamier appeal and can be easily replicated even by a makeup beginner. Start with a cool-toned shade of brown all over the lids and slowly build it up, adding a darker shade closer to the lids to mimic an eyeliner. Apply mascara and you’re pretty much done.

Pink makeup is still in

It’s not just beauty brands that are all for pink makeup, the Blackpink members also sported pink coloured lipsticks, eyeshadows and blushers. Lisa’s neon pink lip was further embellished with jewels while Jennie’s and Jisoo’s eyeshadow makeup were both complemented with the same shade of lipstick on their puckers.

Is blue the next It colour?

Yes, we are referencing Rose’s blue eyeliner look. If you don’t own one, using an eyeshadow to mimic the look of an eyeliner works too. Another thing to note was Jennie’s teal eyeshadow that accented her eye makeup on the inner corners of her peepers. While applying a lighter shade to your inner corners may be a technique beauty enthusiasts have been doing, adding a neon shade definitely ups its fun and creative factor.

Add heavy metallics on the lower lash

Consider this your go-to party makeup look. To do it like how Rose pulled it off, pair this fancy technique with an over-the-top eyeliner. The key here is to fill your entire lower lash line with a pigmented metallic eyeshadow (we prefer liquid types, but loose powders work too) and use a makeup wipe to clean off any excess fallout.
