Think Chloé perfumes and the French maison’s signature Chloé Eau de Parfum  – along with its distinct sunray-pleated glass flacon and silver cap – will probably come to mind. Now, just over a decade and several variations after its debut, the brand puts another refreshing reinterpretation on this signature and highly popular fragrance.

Revealed in September, the reimagined scent Chloé L’Eau comes in the same elegantly grooved bottle as its predecessors; a hand-tied pink grosgrain ribbon around its neck for an artisanal finishing touch. Available at all Sephora boutiques and selected department stores in 30ml ($92), 50ml ($132) and 100ml ($185) bottles, its pretty coral pink juice reflects its sparkling, feel-good blend of notes.

The word “L’Eau” (say “lo”) is French for water, and this eau de toilette is befittingly at once fresh, natural smelling, light and feminine (read: it’s the tasteful kind of sweet-smelling perfume). Meant to be a new chapter in the Chloé rose series created in 2008 by Grasse-born perfumer Michel Almairac – known for his simple yet innovative formulas – Chloé L’Eau enhances the deep, rich floral notes of Damascena Rose Absolute with that of creamy, slightly citrusy magnolia for a modern edge. Lending a fruity zestiness are top notes of lychee and grapefruit; while a base of oakmoss, cedarwood, musk and amber gives this spritz a certain welcoming warmth and sophistication.

To encapsulate the unique radiance of Chloé L’Eau, we brought together two equally feminine yet sprightly friends of Female, branding expert Charmaine Seah-Ong and lifestyle entrepreneur Melody Tan, for a tongue-in-cheek crash course on why L’Eau is going to be on the lips – and skin – of women everywhere.
