German luggage maker Rimowa has been busy at work despite the global pause on travelling. At the end of 2020, it introduced Never Still, a debut foray into luxury bags and accessories. It’s described as an extension of the brand’s raison d’etre that moves beyond the traditional ideas of travel and into the realm of everyday mobility.

At its launch, the brand unveiled an exciting and tight edit of totes and backpacks. These were crafted from premium, hard-wearing canvas, and espoused the brand’s reputation for goods sturdy enough to bear the knocks of international transits.

The Never Still range of bags are crafted in Italy from premium materials. The latest crossbody bag style features a nifty magnetic lock that makes a design shoutout to traditional seatbelt clasps.

Since then, Rimowa has expanded the range to include messenger, weekender (staycations are now often the quick travel-bug fix) and flat pouch styles. The new updates to the collection add more versatility to the range with briefcases and a crossbody flap bag.

Fashion-wise, the crossbody is perhaps the most interesting new style from Rimowa. It’s crafted from canvas and finished with full-grain leather. You’ll find the latter on the piping and main flap of the bag, which has a grooved design akin to the brand’s signature luggage.

What’s really nice is the magnetic clasp that the brand designed, which looks reminiscent of airplane seatbelts. The crossbody bag comes in three colourways: timeless all-black, an earthy beige with cactus green, and beige with a vibrant orange.

This vibrant orange hue called “Mango” takes its cues from the lively scenes and colours of Thailand’s floating markets.

The latter, named Mango, is drawn from the seasonal colours that Rimowa recently introduced as part of the latest edition of its Essential line of polycarbonate luggage. The other colour unveiled in this edition: a pastel green dubbed Bamboo.

Together, these two cheery colours take their inspirations from the sights of floating markets in Thailand and appear on styles like the super trendy Personal Crossbody Clutch Bag, phone cases and the four-wheel Cabin luggage.

Which brings us to the question: who’s all set to step out in style?
