After a two-year hiatus, American alt-pop singer Banks is back with a new single. The singer just released a seductive tune called Skinnydipped, plucked from her yet-to-be-named fourth studio album. The song comes with an accompanying music video that may catch the attention of jewellery fiends.
Directed by Michael Stine and the singer herself, the video captures the latter’s predilection for otherworldly visuals and symbolism. It depicts the 33-year-old as a siren in a lake, while dressed in gowns by Ukrainian-born designer Lesya Verlingieri of Lever Couture and shimmering pieces from Bulgari’s Serpenti collection.
Banks, who is often described as the “priestess of pop” for her dark sound and subversive style told Dork: “Skinnydipped is a song about finally letting go of something that you’ve gone back to many times before. It’s about knowing your worth and shedding your skin.”
Given the primitive appeal and the theme of shedding old skin inherent in the serpentine jewellery designs, we say the Bulgari pieces certainly add the right amount of enchantment and sensuality to the video.
