Fashion Is Obsessed With The So-Bad-It’s-Good 80s Jewellery Aesthetic

We could call this part of the so-bad-it’s-good ’80s jewellery aesthetic that’s been trending for seasons, but that would be selling it short. Yes, it calls for the brash and graphic plastic bangles and earrings from the decade. Diamante bracelets and chokers? Bring them on. What’s going to separate the look now from just another page out of the “retro ugly chic” style book all boils down to exaggerated proportions in size, and how much you put on. Runway exhibit A: Chanel, where models wore multiple super-sized cabochon resin earrings and bracelets, strass crystal-studded necklaces, and more resin cuffs and beaded strands – all at once. Iris Apfel would be proud.
