We have to say: Brands have been pulling out all the stops to shower Singapore with love, from Dior’s Merlion-themed perfume bottles to The Hour Glass and Reuge’s singing birdcage featuring our national red Crimson sunbird.
The latest one to join the party: Swiss luxury watch brand Hublot’s ‘Red Dot’ Bang, which debuts at its pop-up store in Ngee Ann City on August 16. It’s based on the bestselling Big Bang model, which has been lauded for its sleek, modern construction since launching in 2005 (and celebrates turning 10 this year too).
The 45mm ‘Red Dot’ Bang – a moniker coined by local playwright Michael Chiang – features a bright red 10 o’clock marker on its face and an aged leather strap. In two cases, hublonium (a mix of magnesium and aluminium) and yellow gold, there are 50 pieces ($36,600 each) available for the former and only 10 pieces ($66,400 each) for the latter.
The 11,300 sq ft pop-up – it’s the largest one the brand has ever staged – will also present interactive displays showcasing Hublot’s history and innovative design approaches, as well as lifestyle items like cufflinks, pens and belts that have been specially curated for sale at the accessory bar.
While you’re there, register a spot at the free sports clinic to pick up Lucha Libre (Mexican free wrestling) – it’s the brand’s way of paying tribute to its strong ties with some of the biggest sportsmen in history like football legend Pele. August 16-26, Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza
