Pandora Commits To Using 100 Per Cent Recycled Silver And Gold By 2025

In a power eco-conscious move, Danish jewellery giant Pandora commits to only using recycled resources by 2025.

In a major move for jewellery labels, Danish jewellery manufacturer Pandora – said to be the biggest one in the world – has announced that it will only purchase its silver and gold from recycled sources by 2025. This will contribute to a massive cut in carbon emissions, use of water as well as a significant reduction in the mining of new metals.

The jewellery label has actively been engaged in reducing its impact on the environment. Some of its current initiatives include: entirely renewable sources of electricity at its green workshop facilities in Thailand as well as an ongoing action plan to reduce carbon emissions that it is devising with climate change corporation Science Based Targets. Last year, the brand recycled 88 per cent of its leftover materials.

Currently, Pandora’s offerings comprise 71 per cent recycled materials but the brand has pledge to increase that figure to 100 per cent by 2025.

To work towards the goal of going fully recyclable, Pandora is currently working closely with its supplies to ensure that its recycled silver is ethically sourced. Currently, the brand’s offerings comprise 71 per cent recycled materials. Mostly all stones used in their jewellery – cubic-zirconia and nano-crystals, to be exact – are man-made, which ensures a lower carbon impact.

It’s not all work and no play though – the brand’s eco-conscious ethos expands to its delicate and pretty jewellery designs too. Cue its latest Pandora Ocean collection – a line-up of hand-crafted, sterling silver charms, bracelets, rings and pendants amongst others that puts the focus on ocean life with starfish and seahorse earrings, and aqua turtle and whale charms, all of which are shoppable on the brand’s website.
