If You Love Swarovski You Must Watch the Movie 'A Royal Night Out'

The last time jewellery sparkled so much in film was in Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, thanks to Tiffany & Co.. Now, Julian Jarrold’s upcoming A Royal Night Out aims to do the same with costume jewellery – courtesy of Swarovski.

You might know Julian Jarrold for his kinky boots. The 2005 drag queen comedy Kinky Boots to be exact. Come May 28, you will remember the British indie director for some of the most amazing costume jewellery on screen when his period film A Royal Night Out hits cinemas. Set in post-War Britiain, the film follows a young Queen Elizabeth II, played by Sarah Gadon, and her sister Margaret, as they sneak out of Buckhingham Palace to join the V.E. Day celebrations in 1945 to mark the end of World War II.

With the help of wardrobe designer Claire Anderson, his team worked with Swarovski to deck out the royal characters in an 111-piece ensemble of ’40s-style baubles. They tapped mostly on Swarovski’s archival pieces like belt buckles, brooches and hairpieces, including those that the brand made for names like Italian jewellery Atelier Marangoni and Lanvin. Also on display: 27 replicas using Swarovski crystals for pieces like the Queen’s sapphire engagement ring and the ‘V’ brooch that the super adorable Princess Margaret, played by Bel Powley, wears in the balcony scene.
