The place: Sheung Wan, Hong Kong. The people: David Ericsson and his mate Alexis Holm, who may just possibly be the most popular Swedes in this part of town. The duo runs the showroom-accessories boutique Square Street (it’s located on 15 Square Street, natch). And on the last Friday of every month, they throw a free-for-all booze fest, which reportedly can be quite a rowdy affair.
Their most excellent party cred aside, these guys also have serious designer chops. Their forte is accessory design (Ericsson used to design tickers for Swede lable Void Watches), and the twosome creates everything from bags and shoes to timepieces, like their signature (unisex) Minuteman watch ($250, above).
The quartz-powered timepiece, with its mid-Century looking dial is textbook Square Street, thanks to the Bauhaus-meets-Calvin Klein aesthetic. Good news is, you don’t have to travel far to own a piece. The model, which is available in tortoishell cases and nylon straps, are now stocked at Front Row.
