If LaPrendo’s curation of European labels gets an A, then its standalone jewellery boutique is an A+.
If there is one store which has enhanced our love of contemporary labels, especially Scandi ones, LaPrendo would be it. The nine-year-old retailer already has one of the top curations of the hottest names in fashion and accessories here (we are eyeing those Alvaro sandals and Adam Lippes togs for summer). And its fine jewellery game is hot on it stiletto heels. Cue Danish brands Ole Lynggaard and German labels Joachen Pohl and Schaffrath. Like its fashion, the bijoux here stick to the same schtick: contemporary, young and timeless.
Its standalone fine jewellery boutique (opened on April 1), brings all that under one roof. Situated at #03-08C Ngee Ann City – it’s one of the units that took over the former Kinokinuya bookstore – the shop also lets you brush up on your need-to-know, new-to-market names. They include Asherali Knopfer from Paris, LA girl Andra Fohrman, plus Lito from Athens. According to the folks here, a high-end Italian fine jewellery label will be coming soon to stores. Before we break that news, here are our picks of the best finds in the store.
Love a subtle ’70s edge to your jewellery? The satin-finished 18K yellow gold pieces from Ole Lynggaard will do the trick.
German gem expert Jochen Pohl sources for the most precious stones like tanzanite and rubies, then sets them in the most modern way.
Arrows or paper clips? Whatever you see in the handcrafted pieces of Asherali Knopfer, they sure are big on f-u-n.
Ninety-two-year-old German jewellery brand Schaffrath makes the most playful diamond pieces. Plus: The rocks swivel.
Florentine label Carolina Bucci mixes silk with white and yellow gold for the Margherita Missoni-types.
Athens-based brand Lito does Aztec the non-ethnic way.
