Anything Rihanna seems to touch is gold these days, whether it’s the all-new Puma creepers that just dropped or the sunglasses she’s designed for Dior that we’re betting all the cool kids will be snapping up once it launches next month. And even if you’re not a RiRi fan, the other exciting launches this week, from new Superga sneakers to Star Wars-inspired heels and a new accessories store at Capitol Piazza, will more than satisfy your shopaholic urges.
For summer, the popular RiRi-designed Puma creepers now come in three new colour variations: a green and bordeaux mix, white on white, and full-on black. Both the black and green styles ($199 each, available at Puma stores in Ion Orchard and VivoCity) come in a more premium suede upper, while the white (available only online, although it’s currently sold out) is in patent leather.
Loved the first collection of Star Wars-themed shoes from quirky British footwear brand Irregular Choice? Their second drop promises to be just as fun. Launching May 27, the shoes continue to feature characters Darth Vader, the Stormtroopers, C-3PO, R2-D2 and more in bold new designs (we especially love Golden Vader with its gilded, shiny heel). $199-$579, available at Superspace (#02-18 orchardgateway) and on www.wearto.com
Capitol Piazza has earned a reputation for housing cool, achingly hip boutiques like multi-label store Manifesto, which opened last year. Now, there’s another one to add to the list. Opened in early May by Filipino-Chinese Adriana Lim Escano (she double-hats as the CEO of a local accessories distributor), Mimento is a treasure trove of stylish, girly accessories. 13 brands are exclusive to the store, including Parisian label Les Nereides, which specialises in intricately designed floral necklaces and earrings, and Jimmy Crystal New York, whose bedazzling Swarovski crystal accessories have been worn by the likes of Lady Gaga and more. $26-$1,211, #B2-17, Capitol Piazza, 13 Stamford Road
Launched just yesterday, Superga’s latest shoe style is a major #throwback to school shoes of old, with velcro straps replacing the lace-ups. These are available for the first time in adult sizing, and come in three colours: white, dark grey and black. $79.90 each, available at Superga (#B2-04 Wheelock Place)
Hot on the heels of The Outnet’s recent debut of its Summer Shop, a one-stop shop for chic beach accessories, comes a slew of designer collaborations. This week, British luxury brand Matthew Williamson launches an exclusive collection with the British e-tailer, comprising 14 ready-to-wear pieces and 12 swimwear styles. Must-haves include the designer’s signature kaleidoscopic chiffon dresses and jewel-toned swimwear. 115-595 pounds (S$230-S$1,199), available on www.theoutnet.com
