The floral scent universe is so vast it actually goes beyond the usual florals, soft floral and floral oriental categories that most of us might be accustomed too. Just ask purists who would go even further and break down this family of scents according to the types of blooms used – from white flowers like jasmine and magnolia to powdered flowers like iris and violet. What that means? You will never be short on choices when it comes to finding the perfect floral perfume to suit your personality and needs.

10 Floral Fragrances That Will Leave You Smelling Real Fresh
Gucci Flora Gorgeous Jasmine eau de parfum, $245 for 100ml, Gucci

The second fragrance to join the cheery #FloraFantasy fragrance range, this perfume is composed of grandiflorum jasmine (also known as Spanish Jasmine) at its heart – and blended with notes of sandalwood and benzoin for the perfect balance of freshness and sensuality. The sweet and intoxicating scent is further lifted with mandarine essence and magnolia accord. It’s available in 100ml and 50ml sizes.

Gucci
Gabrielle Chanel extrait spray, $497 for 35ml, Chanel

Tuberose grown in the French region of Grasse gets the spotlight in this latest creation by Chanel’s in-house perfumer Olivier Polge. An elevated, more intense version of the namesake parfum, this extrait spray is accompanied by two other floral elements: musky jasmine and the slightly sweet ylang ylang. Notes of vanilla and sandalwood make for a sensual and comforting scent.

Chanel
Prada Paradoxe, price unavailable, Prada

This light pink hued fragrance is chockfull of sensuality and floral energy, thanks to neroli bud extract, Tunisian orange flower and jasmine sambac as its heart notes. Meanwhile, base notes of amber accord, Laos benzoin and white musk afford this fragrance a noticeable vibrancy and warmth. This is also Prada’s very first refillable fragrance and comes in three sizes: 30ml, 50ml and 90ml with a 100ml refill.

Prada
J’adore Parfum d’eau, $275 for 100ml, Dior
image

Zero alcohol is a rarity in the field of perfumery. Nonetheless, Dior’s game-changing creation from its flagship J’adore line (it’s been around since 1999) is a water-based fragrance that claims to have the same lasting power as an eau de parfum. The main star is neroli – the white flowers of bitter oranges that are prized for their light, sweet and zesty notes. Notes of jasmine sambac and Chinese magnolia meld together to give to create one velvety fragrance.

Dior
Hermessence Violette Volynka eau de toilette, $424 for 100ml, Hermes
image

Ever wondered what flowers and leather would smell like when combined? Christine Nagel, Hermes’ in-house perfumer, sought to answer that by combining violets – sourced exclusively from Tourrettes-sur-Loup in southeastern France – and Volynka Russian leather which is used to produce the brand’s Kelly bag. The powdery, delicateness of the violet, mixed with the masculine, almost burnt woodiness of the leather evokes a comforting sensuality.

Hermes
Aura Pink Magnolia eau de parfum, $170 for 50ml, Loewe

With modern day lives as hectic as they are, it’s crucial to have a scent that puts us at ease. The pink magnolia’s in this EDP does just that with its sweet and slightly fruity scent (unsurprisingly, magnolia often appears in aromatherapy). Red fruits, sandalwood and musk finish off the crisp, woody fragrance that’s perfect for everyday wear.

Loewe
