Wearing the branded T-shirt has always been a way for people to express their solidarity and pledge their allegiance as a tribe. One just needs to look at the cult status of band T-shirts and, more recently, branded merchandise from restaurants and cafes to see how people forge communities through this humble apparel.
For the Dover Street Market tribe, there is the T-shirt capsule collection from the ‘Fearless Initiative’. Launched July 23, the project sees the retailer tapping its friends to raise funds for charities adopted by each of its international outposts as a to “spread positive energy”. Over here, Dover Street Market Singapore will donate all proceeds to Beyond Social Services which helps children and youths from less privileged families to break away from the poverty cycle.
More than 15 brands and designers of DSMS answered the call to create a capsule collection of T-shirts. Among them were Doublet, Nike, Doublet and Bianca Chandon and Wes Lang. Each had carte blanche to create their uplifting prints and messages. For instance, Walter van Beirendock featured a caricature of himself holding a giant red balloon plastered with the slogan ‘Dream A Bold New World’.
Already, some designs from popular brands like Marine Serre, Sacai and Raf Simons were sold out in a day. However, there are still stocks for the other brands in the slide show above which can be bought via the DSMS e-shop. If you prefer to visit the store, do remember to book a slot by e-mailing appointments@dsm-sg.com or call +65 6304 1388 with your desired time and date.
